McCallie Lacrosse Camps cover all aspects of team play, with emphasis on fundamental development and the mechanics of individual offense and defense. The camp offers individual skill sessions, a team skill session, and a team game each day.

CAMPERS ARE REQUIRED TO RECORD THEIR TEMPERATURES ON THE FORM THAT WILL BE POSTED ON THE COVID-19 TAB AND BOTH PARENTS MUST SIGN THE HOLD McCALLIE HARMLESS WAIVER.  THE COMPLETED FORM IS REQUIRED THE FIRST DAY OF CAMP.   It is recommended that all campers self-quarantine with limited travel and contact with non-family members for 7 days prior to their session.  Please see our Protocol Grid posted under our COVID-19 tab for more details about camp procedures. No late pick-up, aftercare, swimming in "Lake" or Gameroom.

 

All sessions of Lacrosse Camp are now half-day. Drop off 8-9am Practice Lacrosse Field.  Pick up at 12-noon same location.

Instructional Lacrosse for Beginner/Intermediate

Dates: June 1-5 - CANCELLED

NEW DATES: June 29-July 3
Grades: Rising 3rd – Rising 9th grade – Boys
Time: 9:00 AM – 12:00 PM 
Fee: $250
Early Drop Off (8AM) is available.

  • Drop-off Location: Rotunda Circle
  • Swimming in the McCallie “Lake” is mid-day, not after camp NO SWIMMING
  • Pick-up Location: LAX Practice Field located on Anderson Avenue (12:00 PM) 
  • CANCELLED: Late pick-up after 5 PM at McCallie Gameroom – $25 per day, after 5:30 an additional $25 per day

Lacrosse Equipment for Beginner/Intermediate Lacrosse Camp
Participants need to bring a stick or they can purchase one at camp. It is highly recommended that you bring your own equipment (helmet, pads, gloves, etc.) but McCallie also has some equipment to borrow.

Session 2

CANCELLED Lacrosse Day: Intermediate/Advanced

Dates: June 8-12
Grades: Rising 6th – 10th grade – Boys
Time: 9:00 AM – 3:30 PM
Friday Pick Up time TBA, depending upon Division.
Lunch is provided and Early Drop Off (8AM) is available.   
Fee: $325 (Early Bird Discount $25 before March 1st)

  • Drop-off Location: Rotunda Circle
  • Swimming in the McCallie “Lake” is mid-day, not after camp
  • Pick-up Location: LAX Practice Field located on Anderson Avenue (3:30 PM) OR McCallie Gameroom (4 PM)
  • Late pick-up at McCallie Gameroom. Fees apply: $25 per day after 5:00 PM

CANCELLED Lacrosse Extended Day: Intermediate/Advanced

Dates: June 8 - 12
Grades: Rising 6th – 10th grade – Boys
Time: 9:00 AM – 8:00 PM (Mon. - Thurs.)
Friday Pick Up time TBA, depending upon Division.
Lunch and dinner is provided and Early Drop Off (8AM) is available.   
Fee: $425 (Early Bird Discount $25 before March 1st)

  • Drop-off Location: Rotunda Circle
  • Swimming in the McCallie “Lake” is mid-day, not after camp
  • Pickup is at the field after the evening session finishes at 8:00 p.m.

  • The 7-to-1 camper/staff ratio allows for personalized attention to each camper.
  • Camps are designed for beginning and experienced lacrosse players. The experience level of each player is most useful in determining the appropriate week of camp.
  • All participants will receive a reversible tank top and a lacrosse ball.  Campers swim in the McCallie “Lake” during camp and have lunch in Alumni Hall. Boarding and Extended Day campers will also be provided dinner.
  • All lacrosse campers must have their own stick or purchase one at registration. Lacrosse equipment will also be available for purchase at camp.

About the Director

Eamon Thornton

Head Lacrosse Coach, English Teacher, and Dorm Advisor

2019-20 will be Thornton's first year as the head lacrosse coach after seven years as the head JV coach and a varsity assistant. Thornton graduated from McCallie in 2002 having played both football and lacrosse, and went on to play lacrosse at Hampden-Sydney College where he earned DIII Academic All-American and graduated in 2006 with a double major in English and Philosophy. Thornton coached in England, Baltimore, and Atlanta before returning to the Ridge in 2011. Since then, he has taught English in the middle school and high school, coached both football and lacrosse, and served as a dorm head and faculty member in Hutch. Thornton lives on campus with his wife and three children, Luke (6), Adelyn (3), and Noah (newborn). For fun, Thornton and his family love to travel, hike, play sports, and play on campus with the big boys.

Please let us know if your plans change and your child will not be attending camp so we can give the spot to another child.

A non-refundable $25 registration fee is included in the deposit. (This registration fee applies to the camp fee.) The remaining balance is due and will be charged to your method of payment 10 days before the session begins.
